Notes from Home is a tale of politics. It's a tale of space travel and the music industry. But above all, it's a tale of self-discovery, as a travelling musician hops from planet to planet, from system to system, with the simple goal of just getting back home. Along the way, he meets an eclectic cast of characters, discovers a variety of cultures and plays some damn fine tunes while he's at it.
For the book cover, I wanted to express what the book was all about - but without using the title. One of my favourite things is seeing design without text, and it's a good exercise to see if what you're trying to say can be communicated without traditional means. After all, isn't that what graphic design is all about?
It'll be a few years, at least, before the book is finished. I may choose to tweak the cover in that time. For now, though, I'm happy with it.
